The future belongs to those who give the next generation reason for hope.

We are encouraging bloggers everyone to support One Laptop Per Child’s Give One Get One program. One Laptop Per Child’s mission is to help the world’s poorest kids to know, learn, and understand. OLPC provides a green, low-cost laptop that’s tough enough to withstand a child’s curiosity, and is full of educational content and software to help them connect to the world around them. Being connected to the web is something we feel passionate about at Six Apart, and being connected can fuel young imaginations for a bigger tomorrow.
Join us and thousands of others and get involved today:
* Give One, Get One. You can buy a laptop for a child around the world and for a child near you with the Give One, Get One program. Purchase online at amazon.com/xo.
* Spread the word. Learn more about OLPC and Give One, Get One and write about it. Your voice will help encourage others. Here are some great videos to share with your audience.
Thanks, in advance, for all of your support. Six Apart is proud to help bloggers continue to change the world.
I got 294 points (almost 300) on my PT test! That's the best I've EVER done!!! =)
Maxed pushups & situps and ran a 16-minute 2mile... the best for me so far.
Though I was aiming for 15:30, hey- there's always next year ;) I was the first girl to finish.
So I was put on the "PT stud" list lol... apparently I get a badge or something.
I am such a geek.
Please join me in taking a second to note that Veterans Day isn't just a day some people get off work or have a day off from school. Our troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan don't have the day off and those facing a difficult readjustment don't get the day off from the mental and physical wounds of war.
While we will always remember the fallen on this day, we must never forget those that still remain among us.
Today please call up every veteran you know to thank them for their service.
be SO bad???
damn you double decker tacos for your evil-goodness!!!!
I had a wonderful break this past week =) 6 days off was definitely needed before I head into hell week...
7 straight days of 13 hour work-shifts =X
Anyways, the boyfriend & I headed down to Corpus Christi/Padre Island for the weekend and it was lovely.
Though the place wasn't quite how I remembered it -a total ghost-town- we still had fun & enjoyed it.
The absence of a crowd and the cool weather actually made it better-- slowed down the pace.
So of course, some pictures. (More @ Flickr)
Not gonna be here (physically AND mentally) for the next week; I hope I make it out alive! AHHHHH

As we mentioned in early October, hundreds of bloggers engaged in the 2nd annual DonorsChoose.org Blogger Challenge, a friendly competition during the month of October to see who could raise the most money for or reach the most kids in low-income public schools.
The results of the competition are in! Once again, Sarah Bunting of Tomato Nation blew every other blogger out of the classroom by raising $111,352, and helping over 19,577 students. Sarah demonstrated the power of blogging by producing a campaign ad that asked her readers to vote with their wallets and it worked. Over the course of October, 1,162 donors "voted" and donated.
As the sponsor of the prize for the bloggers who reach the most kids, Six Apart would like to give a shout out to Sarah and the bloggers in each category who reached the most students.
(This is our San Francisco team. Our New York, Paris and Japan team send their thanks also!)
Nearly twice as many bloggers attracted 50% more donors than last year, making the competition fiercer than ever. But leaders emerged in each category, and we'd like to acknowledge their fine efforts.
In the Tech Blog category, Fred Wilson's AVC Blog reached 4,454 students.
In the Science Blog category, David Ng and Benjamin Cohen's The World's Fair blog reached 1,780 students.
In the Topical/Local Blog category, Ralph Alswang Photography reached 522 students.
In the Mommy Blog and BlogHer category, Alice of Finslippy reached 1,676 students.
In the Knitting Blog category, Rose-Kim Knits reached 597 students.
In the Music Blog category, music teacher Walt Ribeiro reached 910 kids.
In the Sports Blog category, Sports Crackle Pop reached 465 kids.
Along with our thanks and congratulations, each winner will receive some choice schwag from our team at Six Apart.
As the creator of three leading blog platforms - Vox, TypePad and Movable Type - and the provider of social media services and advertising solutions, we are thrilled to participate in an event that raises awareness about the power and influence blogging can have, while also raising money for a very worthwhile cause: The future bloggers of America!
Thanks again to everyone who participated.
October was a great month =) Some highlights:
- Oak Lawn's block party, "Fairytales"
- Halloween night: friend's house and Buddha9 grand opening
Oh! & I voted yesterday ;) as if it matters at this point....
The wintermester is coming up soon ;x I'll be taking both A&P and Health... aka, I'll be dying, lol.
November is going to be a crazy month in general. Between drill, working full-time, wrapping up my classes, and getting ready for the holidays, its going to be a rollercoaster. Oh well, I'm hanging on tight ;)
Today was nice, as well. I actually slept in then hit up North Park Mall -my 2nd home- with BFF. Dooney & Burke was having an event so we thought we'd take advantage of the free astrology profile/card-reading they had =P We found it hilarious that it matched her and I perfectly... almost spooky. (She's my soul sistah, so no surprise.) I found the most amazing dress at Bebe and had the most amazing salmon salad at Kona Grill <3 gotta love that place.
In other irrelevant news, my new cam (Canon Powershot 1100SD IS) finally came in =) Expect better photos.
In more relevant news, I'm beginning to re-analyze how I live my life in terms of how I reflect love. I believe I've been blessed beyond anything I could deserve, so I hope I can ground myself enough to give that love right back. The best solution to someone bothering you is to only show grace and kindness. Karma seems to truly exist.
A parting thought for you:
"The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians- who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable."
xoxo
this really hit close to home. Its one thing to be sitting at home on your couch, watching certain events unwind on a television screen, and swallowing up whatever talking heads feed you.
Its quite another to be directly involved and to know the real truth of these events.
I guess what really disturbs me lately is how easily people have been swayed.
Maybe charisma is all you need to make it in life.
